Pass The Ball To Chris Gets First Win

September 24th, 2019

With the eponymous Christian Hernandez back in the lineup, Pass The Ball To Chris got its first win of the season, a tight 57-54 victory over KP Ballerz. Hernandez had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead his team, while Tony Ornelas added 13 and five in the win. Ballerz star Mike Luke, who refs some night games for us, promised to go off for 30 points against Chris, but he fell just short, hitting two threes for six points. Maybe he meant 30 points for the season.

In other games:

--Black Mambas 59, DTC 54 - Freddy Zamora had 31 points in the win, scoring from all over the court. He had four threes, multiple layups and went 7-11 from the free-throw line. Marcel Heath had 29 points for DTC.

--The Fam 39, Shoot Your Shot 37 - A classic defensive struggle that went right down to the wire. Dillan Fleming led The Fam with 20 points.

--Blue Coconuts 75, Richardson Squad 53 - Zach Jones, who has been away on paternity leave (and bless the 21st Century for that!) returned with a bang, scoring 26 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the impressive win.

--Hawgs 60, Squad 55 - When All-Everything star Donte Williams scores only 14 points in a game against a top-level team like Squad, one might assume that Williams' team, The Hawgs, are in trouble. Not so on this day as Jon Brogan picked up the slack, hitting six three and scoring 24 points. Squad held a 32-27 lead at the half, but a three-point outburst by Brogan midway through the second half (he hit five of them) propelled The Hawgs into the lead.

We had 22 games last week and there was just one forfeit. As always, that's one too many for our taste, but that's still kinda' impressive.

Important Notice: This coming Sunday (9/29) will be one of the strangest in quite some time. One of our refs will be in Spain and another in France. One will miss due to a personal matter and yet another will be out for a work-related thing. I (Tom) have never missed a Sunday in 31 years (crazy, but true) and I'm not going to start now. At least one other ref will be available, but suffice it to say that we will not be having 22 games this coming Sunday. The schedule will be up by Wednesday evening and the stats will be posted by the end of the week.
