Heading into the penultimate week of the Summer 2025 regular season, only a couple teams had yet to taste victory. And both very easily could have done so earlier in the season, but both had suffered one-point losses along the way. So, we paired them up--Bron Bron Elite vs. Los Toros--in the Bad Luck Bowl and it was great. The two teams staged a defensive battle that went down to the final minute, with Los Toros pulling out a 37-34 win. They may see each other again in the upcoming playoffs as they have similar records and played each other close. It's entirely possible that they will be in the same Playoff Division.
A curmudgeon is defined as "a bad-tempered person, usually an old one." I've always told myself that I never wanted to become a curmudgeon. Fortunately, I have a decade or so before I become old, so I can work on not becoming one of those. However, I am losing my patience with a handful of people/teams who aren't doing their part to help make the Tucson Basketball League the best it can possibly be. A few teams have managed to go the entire season without submitting a roster. That means that we can't take stats at their games and, more importantly, we can't guarantee that the players on their teams are the ONLY ONES who are appearing in the playoffs. I try my hardest not to do things retroactively, so I'm notifying everybody right now.
If you are participating in the Tucson Basketball League next season or any season after that, you must have an official roster on file no later than your second game. If you fail to do so, you will not be scheduled for a third game. It will be the same as though you haven't paid in full. It is a very simple process, one that only takes a couple minutes. (And you can add or subtract names as the season goes along.) A couple people have told me that they had difficulty with the link they were given and/or the actual inputting of names. If that is the case, we will help you do it at the venue, using my laptop. I want to get back to posting weekly stat leaders and will need every team to have a roster in order to do that. Thank you.
We have a short schedule this week due to a women's volleyball tournament at the venue. We will get in all of the final regular-season games, as well as makeup games for teams that had other teams forfeit to them. We also have to clean up the mess I made when I scheduled Winter 2025 Championship games AND Summer 2025 regular-season games on the same day (May 4th). For several teams, the won/lost results of the playoff games have shown up as part of their Summer regular-season record. So, we owe them an extra regular-season game. All of the above games will be played this Sunday afternoon/evening. We will then begin the single-elimination playoffs (in which all teams will participate) the following Sunday, August 3rd.
