Playoff Divisions Announced

July 27th, 2025

The Summer 2025 Playoff Divisions have been determined. We will have 14 seven-team Divisions and one six-team Division. The playoffs will begin next Sunday, August 3rd and will be completed by the end of the month. The Summer playoffs are always tricky because we sometimes have to take a week off due to the resurfacing of the floors. The arduous task usually begins on a Monday and the actual resurfacing is done quickly. However, it then requires several days for the new surface to "cure" and that depends, in part, on how humid the air is. If it's a particularly rainy week, we may have to skip a Sunday while the courts become usable again. Last year, we didn't have to skip a Sunday; a couple years ago, we did. You just never know.

Below are all of the Playoff Divisions. They have been grouped in hopes of providing competitive matchups throughout, but no matter how much math and science is employed, there is still an element of luck involved, so... The Divisions are arranged in order of records. The first team listed had the best regular-season record of all the teams in the Division and so on down the line. This can be somewhat misleading, as I mixed together teams that did well in one Division with some who struggled in higher regular-season Divisions. It's entirely possible that a 2-5 team will be competitive with a 5-2 team. There are also multiple instances where teams had identical or almost-identical records (a lot of 4-3 and 3-4 teams in one Division), so I had to go back and see who played whom.

This was a very time-consuming process because I want to get it right. You may not know this, but I'm only 42 years old. I just look like this because I don't get enough sleep.

Here's the way it will work for the Seven-Team Divisions: The first team has a bye, the No. 2 plays No. 7, 3 plays 6, and 4 plays 5. In the semifinals, 1 will play the winner of 4-5, and the winner of 2-7 will take on the winner of 3-6. For the Six-Team Division, Nos. 1 and 2 will have byes, while 3 plays 6 and 4 play 5.
