We completed the rest of the first-round games this past Sunday and now it's on to the semifinals. We'll have a full day of action this coming Sunday with games running from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 at night. This past Sunday, we had a wild finish to the slate of games on Court 1. The final three games of the night were determined by a total of seven points. Girl Dads edged past Swoosh, 64-59, but that was a relative blowout compared to what would follow. First, Anybody Can got by Storm, 65-64, and then Bombardier nipped Bricklayers Anonymous, 54-53.
Another highlight game saw SideLoaders storm past Tio Drews and into the Final Four of their Division with a 44-35 win. Ham got into their semifinal game by slipping past Gila Monsters, 51-50.
As mentioned recently, a weird calendar this year saw us have basically five Sundays in September and then five Sundays in November. That's why we're finishing the season a week earlier than usual. We usually take two weeks off to enjoy the holidays. This year, it's three. We're going to use that extra week to come up with a couple things that should enhance everyone's enjoyment of the League experience. One thing that, for sure, is coming is our photo gallery. Several League members have submitted photos of themselves wearing TBL championship shirts in exotic locales. Paul Choi of the Blue Coconuts wore one when he went to Switzerland to compete in a marathon. League leading scorer Chaz Mack had a photo taken when he was standing in front of the famous Bean in Chicago. And Spencer Grijalva sent one of him wearing one in Montego Bay in Jamaica. Really cool.
Best of luck to those who are still in the hunt for a legendary TBL championship shirt. We hope to see (almost) everybody back (along with a dozen or so new teams) in January when we begin the Winter 2026 season.
